As the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Building) for the Housing & Development Board (HDB) of Singapore, Dr Wong leads the five Building Groups in the development of HDB’s towns and estates. Dr Wong and the Building Groups are responsible for the strategic urban planning, infrastructure planning, design, construction and contracts management of HDB building projects. Guided by Dr Wong, the groups also carry out social and economic research and surveys to improve our town plans and building designs, as well as research on innovative, cost-effective solutions to drive construction productivity, create a better living environment and achieve greater sustainability. Before assuming his appointment as DCEO(B), Dr Wong was the Group Director (Building & Research Institute) from 2012 to 2021. In this capacity, Dr Wong championed environmental sustainability initiatives and provided strong leadership to drive the comprehensive sustainable development framework for development of new towns like Punggol Eco-Town. Appointed concurrently as the Chief Technology Officer for MND between 2018 to 2021, he looked into mapping the R&D and technology development workplans for the MND family, essentially promoting research collaboration with both public and private organisations so as to scale up R&D investments and technology transfer efforts to the industry.As a Professional Engineer, Dr Wong has been conferred several awards including the Institute of Civil Engineers Award, Public Administration Medal (Silver) and Public Sector Transformation Exemplary Leader Award for his contributions to the Public Sector.
